Jessica Moore is our most recent featured faculty member. She is a brand new, first-year teacher but one would never know it! Ms. Moore earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Christopher Newport University and currently teaches biology at Hampton High School (HHS).

Ms. Moore shared she became an educator because she loves being a part of the “a-ha!” moment from a student, or anyone, for that matter. She enjoys seeing them finally understanding something with which they have struggled. Ms. Moore further shares, “I love the challenge of making our students better and helping them find their love of science!"

When asked why she chose Hampton High School, Ms. Moore states it was the right fit for her because of its rich history and caring and supportive nature she felt from all who work at HHS.  She also wanted to be a part of a team who truly love kids and want nothing but the best for them…and that is Hampton High School! She commends her colleagues, administration, and support staff since she started at HHS and is very grateful for the support and is excited to continue a long career at Hampton.

Her favorite quote is, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” - Unknown

One of our newest featured faculty members is Mr. George O. Cunningham, IV. Mr. Cunningham is the School Counseling Coordinator for Hampton High School, who happens to be from right here in Hampton! He earned his undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University where he majored in psychology and minored in sociology and earned his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Regent University. He is school counselor and licensed professional counselor.

When asked why he became an educator, Mr. Cunningham shared, “to impact students by helping them develop a plan of action for navigating high school both socially and on an academic level.  In addition, I wanted to help students with their post secondary planning so when they do graduate they have a map to continue on their journey.

He states he came to HHS because there was an opening for the School Counselor Coordinator. Previously, he was a school counselor at Bethel High School.

Mr. Cunningham’s favorite quote is, “Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities... because it is the quality which guarantees all others.”  ~Winston Churchill
