Ms. Powell was recently nominated to receive a 2012 award from the Virginia Association of Science Teachers (VAST). VAST received multiple nominations in many of the 12 award categories, and all nominees were worthy of recognition. However, only one science educator could be selected in each category, and we are pleased to share that Ms. Powell has been selected to receive the award in the Biology category. Congratulations on this accomplishment, Ms. Powell! Subjects that Ms. Powell teaches at Hampton High School are Pre-International Baccalaureate (Pre-IB) Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. She became an educator because she enjoys working with young adults. She shares, “I feel it is a great honor to help young people grow and achieve their goals academically and personally.” Ms. Powell’s favorite quote is, “It takes a village to raise a child.” ~ Jane Cowen-Fletcher |
