Congrats to Huy Ngo (12th grade AP Studio student) for recently winning 1st place in the NASA LARC 2012-13 Calendar Contest.
Huy's work will be the featured image for the month of Dec in the new calendar. This is a huge honor for Huy & Hampton HS because NASA uses the calendars to communicate to the public the work they do.
Here is the photo of Huy's beautiful drawing of the Hubble Telescope recording and exploding star. You can see the exploding star in the telescope's lens. An extremely challenging subject! |

You are invited to our College Preparatory PSAT, AP, and IB Information Night this Thursday, December 15th beginning at 7:00 pm. During the evening, students who took the official PSAT in October will receive their detailed score reports, and Mr. Cunningham, our school Counseling Coordinator, will explain to students and parents how to interpret their scores and use them in planning their next steps for taking the SAT. Students who took the official PSAT include all of our sophomores and juniors, in addition to our freshmen who are currently enrolled in Algebra II or a higher level of math.
Additionally, as students prepare for choosing their courses for the 2012-2013 school year, we will also have information that night for students and parents regarding how to choose the most appropriate courses at Hampton High in order to maximize students' college potential, including detailed information about our IB Certificate program and taking Advanced Placement courses for college credit. Ms. Cataldo, our HCS IB Coordinator, and Mr. Paul Nichols, the President of Virginia Advanced Study Strategies, will both speak briefly and will be available to answer student's and parents questions.
So please make plans to join us on Thursday, December 15th at 7:00 pm in the Hampton High cafeteria for our College Readiness/PSAT night. We look forward to seeing you then!

HHS won first place against 27 teams on the peninsula at the Convention Center this morning. The Junior Achievement Group was sponsored by Bay Port CU. They took 3 teams over and Thao Tran, Jeremy Malmgren, William Schaffer, Tony P and Marina Weber took 1st place. They started with $500000 and finished with $979000. Great Job....all the students and teams did great from Virtual Enterprises. Congratulate them when you see them. |
